Hi Guys,

This is my very first attempt to make a dio. Just need some advise on how to permanently fix a tank, armor and figures on to the dio groundworks. Any links or tips will greatly help

Helppppp

Thanks

Well the way that I nail down a tank is to drill a hole in the bottom of the hull then I take a wood screw drilled into the base wood to hold the tank in place . For figures I drill a hole in one of the feet and use a peace of wire and drill a hole in the base . I hope this helps .

for figures, get a little disk of wood called a 'biscuit' or some other thin wood chip, glue the figure onto it, then set the wood chip in your base material with a small screw or tack and blend it in with the ground...
now for your armor piece, i really dont know....any1 else have experience with setting armor in??

Hi there Warthog. This is what Shep Paine recommends & what I usually do when I fasten tanks in my dio. This is from his book "How to build Dioramas'.

Hope this helps.

I use safety wire (thin, very strong, cheap - kind of stuff they use on racecars/airplanes). You can't see it thru road wheels (or tires either). Makes great raido ant's also.

Much easier to drill a hole into a figure's foot, or both feet, and CA glue in a short piece of music wire or a straight pin. Drill a hole into the base for the wire and secure with glue.

The wire/pin also allows me to mount the figure in a pinvise for painting.

With this method, you can wait until the ground work is done before affixing figures to the base.
