hey all, for my wirble wind dio i want to have a flag pole and nazi flag at the top of it in my german ruined house out post.............would this be logical.....what i mean is, would the germans ever do this...?
if it is a ruined house not a military or official building it would be better not to have a flag pole, only a swastika flag hanged out of a window would look better.

A lot depended on the amount of Luftwaffe activity in the area... quite often battle flags were draped over tanks and the roofing of buildings to let the pilots know the inhabitants were Germans.... it was almost a necessity in hostile territory that had just been taken. The front lines changed so quickly that what a pilot was told was an enemy fortification in the morning might actually be a german strongpoint by noon!
Of curious note, when the germans captured an enemy tank they almost always repainted it immediately, and put a draped flag on the rear or turrent of the tank for this same purpose. Quite a few T-34's and older T-28s finished the war wearing the German cross!

According to Chris Ellis in his Tanks of World War 2, there were 86 Wirblewinds built between July and November 1944 when the allies had almost complete air superiority. Displaying a Nazi flag at this point would have been like putting a bull's eye on your tank.
I'd avoid the flag with the Wirblewind.

I have absolutely no knowledge of this sort of armor, but if it's true what Ellis's book says, then Al is absolutely right. I would stay away from a flag in that case.
