Does anyone know, or can direct me to a source detailing, the color of WWII fire extinguishers?
For the life of me I can't find a reference for the color(s) the Germans used on the fire extinguishers that hang on external equipment racks on Panthers.
Are they red, like modern fire fighting equipment?
I have 1/35th and 1/25th kits and neither one's instructions makes it clear. All my reference books have black and white photos, or the hardware is not visible in the few color shots.
Thanks in advance,
Keith

i'd say that they're prob/ red if not red, then silver (like plain metal fire extinguishers)

I can remember a text in a book in which was said that german fire extinguishers on and in vehicles were painted in light grey.
I dont think they were red or silver because these colors are very conspicuous.
External-mounted fire extinguishers could have been painted over while painting the vehicle in the field

Paint them the same color as your vehicle...NOT RED for sure ..red is the North American color for fire extinguishers and was not used in Europe at that time..

Thanks everyone.
I guess red would be a bad color. Kind of the anti-camouflage.
I will go with the vehicle colors with gray underneath the paint chippings.
Thanks Again! (This site rocks!)
