Heya, Folks!

Having been inspired by Sniper, I am just finishing up my RG 1/72 Merkava III --- great kit!!

I am debating purchasing the new Verlinden Middle East Ruin base... Has anyone seen or purchased it yet...? I wonder if it is any good and worth the money.

My other question is: are there any civillian vehicle kits available in 1/72nd scale...?

I was thinking of adding a destroyed burnt out civillian sedan or pick-up truck in the diorama... As I am a newbie to 1/72 (I'm normally a 1/35th scale guy...though I do have fond memories of building the 1/76 Airfix Sherman Firefly and US Sheridan MANY moons ago), I'm not very aware of all the choices out there...

Thanks, amigos!!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B

If you can deal with non-kit diecast vehicles, their is a company called Hongwell that makes some nice 1/72 vehicles. They have lots of civilian and emergency vehicles. The only military issue I know of is a Jeep, although a Landrover 109 is supposed to be in the works. These are also released under the Schuco and Boley brand names. Hope this helps.

My local hobby shop had some civilian European tractor trailer trucks (Volvo tractors with those soft sided trailers). I bought one real cheap, like $5, and they had several others at the time. I will place a scan of the kit here since I do not recall the manufacturer. I don't remember if the store still had any left. I was just there Saturday, so it will be a while before I head back.

It was a pretty detailed model, and I recall them having various brands and types (some tractor trailer rigs, some regular van type).

Thanks a bunch, guys!

The die cast route seems to be the way ta go... Gotta couple of area hobby shops which specialize in such items, so I will check 'em out!

Much appreciated!

The company that makes 1/72 scale trucks is called ScanKits of Denmark. Fairly detailed for such a small kit. I bought one partly out of curiousity and partly out of the chance that I may do some Kosovo or Bosnia check point diorama.

I'm amazed at the number of parts in this kit.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know if there are similar civilian vehicles in 1/35? I know there are die-cast 1/32's out there, how off would they be compared to 1/35?

Maisto makes quite a few different vehicles in scales from 1/30 to around 1/38, none that I know of right at 1/35. They all have pullback motors, but usually detailed interiors. The bases unscrew, giving you acess to the interiors to paint and superdetail.

Most of the 1/32's would look noticably large with 1/35 armor. But if you were doing a dio you might be able to mix them up somewhat.
