I am new to modelling and building my first diorama, a cobbled street with pavement and lamp post. I would appreciate any advice on how to paint and weather the lamp post pavement and cobblestones

paint the lamp post, then after it dries, chp the paint with a hobby knife, then use some sort of pastel for rust and put a tiny bit of rust on it, you could actually use real rust

You got some good weathering tips, but I just wanted to toss in my 1 1/2 cents worth. The last urban dio I did, after painting, etc, the lamp post, I broke it into two pieces about 1/2 inch from the bottom, drilled them out, then added black insulated stereo wire to simulate the power cables inside the post, painted the break points with dull aluminum, glued down the base then let the upper half lay in the street with glass from a broken flashlight bulb scattered under the lamp. Just a thought.

this is sorta but are you scratch building the lamp post or buying from an accessory kit of some kind? if you're scratch building it and using metal, use a soft metal like copper so its easier to weather if you're buying it from a kit, let me know, i've yet to see a lamp post sold in a kit, and if i have, i should have bought it.....anyone, 1/35 lamp posts somwhere

sorry again bout the

the diorama is a german soldier sat on horseback with another soldier on foot, I have almost completed the coble stone street and pavement and am including a lamp post on the corner of the street, this is from a Tamiya set which includes fencing and wooden pylons
