this little guy first hit the street? For those of you who dont, its ok. THis is the Monogram M8 Greyhound. The scale is 1/32 and the entire model was built OOB as opposed to strictly in the box I started this thing last night and finished it this evening. Wham, bam its done. Something fun to do on fathers day. Just thought I would share with you guys/gals. "Q"Comments welcome

Neat job....these old Monogram kits are better than a lot of people give them credit for!

Thanks for the kind words folks. I admit that the color os a little off, but I didnt really put much concern in it at the time. I just wanted something to build on a week end. I think the color might have been affected by the lights I shot the pictures under as well. I have a couple more of these oldies in my collection that I might just have to get started. Strictly OOB of course. They are a lot of fun. They bring back fond memories when model building was just simple fun. No research, no detail sets, no aftermarket decals. Just a tube of glue, some paint and your imigination. "Q"

Holy Mother! They're not still making that are they? I seem to recall my last Mono Greyhound Hitting an "M-80/Tellermine" back in '84! You pulled that out of your stash, Right? You sure made an old dog look 'show ready'... Hey 'Q', While we're on memory lane, remember the old (think they were Revell or Matchbox) " Scenes-In-A-Box"? I had a Sherman with a vacuform base complete with stream, culvert, and shell crater. My Panther had a vac cobble street with 'crash-through' brick wall. Anybody else remember these? Were there more kits in this line? I might have to check ebay, now you've got me all misty eyed for the days of youth...

These were the old Aurora 1/48 scale armor kits. I still have my original MBT70 that I built as a kid and subsequently rebuilt using parts I bought on eBay during their early years. I do have several of the vacuform diorama base kits like the M109 howitzer, Long Tom, M46 Patton as well as another MBT70 I got off of eBay....Hey 'Q', While we're on memory lane, remember the old (think they were Revell or Matchbox) " Scenes-In-A-Box"? Major Rob, I just had a feeling that you'd be the first to answer when I submitted this....
Ah, the MBT70. That poor guy didn't survive the .177 cal artillery barrage (yeah, I was an Idiot in those days), but I think I may still have the barrel & turret bustle basket in a Parts Box! Thanks for setting me straight on the Manuf.

Yeah, I pulled it off of the shelves here at the house. My son had started it a few months before I went wheels up to Iraq and then it just sat there uncomplete. The only thing he had put together was the tires. It went together quick and with no headaches other than the bottom piece for the turret that holds the gun in place. Major seam to clean up. I just scraped it and called it even. I like the old kits. I have some Hudson Models kits from 1947 that will never be built just for the fact that are that old. An old renwal M42 Duster and an original issue Kittyhawk/Wright Flyer. I have a budy who has gotten into the old 1/32 Monogram kick as well. He has got most of the armor subjects in hand. M4 with Calliope, M3 Halftrack, M35 Deuce and a half, Jagdpanzer L70 (I believe) and a few others. They are just too cool to work on. Big and simple....a lot like me Glad you enjoyed the trip down memorie lane. "Q"
