Okay, stay with me on this. I want to do an Abrams during the Thunder Run attacks outside of Baghdad during OIF. From what I have read they went through a real gauntlet of RPG fire and heavy caliber weapons fire, in addition to small arms fire. Most vehicles were hit multiple times and their stowed gear especially took a licking. Many of the bagged items even caught fire. So, I am looking for photos showing the impacts and results of these hits. I have only seen one that was posted on an in-progress shot of an Abrams being built by M60A3. Anything out there?
Second, here are some in-progress photos I took today. The hull is pretty much done, except for the weathering (and any battle damage I can add). The turrett is getting close. I need to scratchbuild the extended bustle rack and I need to add the MGs, which I am detailing at this time. Any comments are welcome. More photos of this build are in my gallery.

Thank you Fbuis. Very interesting photos.
I was beginning to think there was nothing out there.
But I thought I would get a few comments about the in-progress shots. I know that the anti-slip coating is a little thick. I thought I would at least get that comment from all of the Abrams experts out there.

Did anyone notice that group standing on that burnt out Abrams cheering like they were the ones that knocked it out.
I wonder if they would be the kind of people that would be behind this group that captures, and beheads innocent people that you have been hearing about on TV lately.
If they would cheer about a burnt out Abrams that way on camera, it is hard to tell what they would do off camera.

Not too bad. I'd check out previous posts as we just had an Abrams campaign build. One thing I did notice was the cover on the engines rear panel. That square piece that you attached on the middle grill, was attached on Marine Abrams. So I'm not sure if you are building a Marine Abrams or an Army M1A1 as you have left off the MCD and your smoke discharger is that of the Army's tanks. Otherwise pretty good.

Jeff: Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did check out the posts on the Abrams campaign and read something about that square piece being only for Marine vehicles. However, my research indicates otherwise. There are several good photos of Cajone Eh that was knocked out on the Thunder Run outside of Baghdad (one of the Concord books has a close-up of the rear area). The photos of that Army vehicle clearly show that the square piece was attached. That unit was from TF 1-64. I am depicting a tank from the same task force. Also, the Army M1 at http://tanxheaven.com/m1a1aim/m1a1aim1.htm
has the square piece attached.
