Hi!

My next model will be M113 ACAV from Academy. I like decals included in the kit but unfortunatelly there's no info about unit which used this vehicle. I'm afraid also that it can be only 'boxart markings'
Anyone knows if this markings are correct and what unit it belongs to?
Here is a box:

TIA,
Piotr

Hi Piotr,
In this Academy M113 ACAV box you can build 1 M113: a Korea M113, an Aussie and an US M113 with the choice of 2 versions.
The first US M113 (version A) I'd ever seen somewhere on a website but it was longtime so I don't remember, I will let you know or may be the other Armorama modelers will reply your question.
The second US 113 (version B) was a M113 ACAV of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Hau Nghia province, Vietnam in the last sixties.

Here is a website of the 11th ACR :
http://www.vhpamuseum.org/11thcav/11thcav.html

Hope this helps.

Hi Mr. Piotr Surma,
Is it what you're looking for?
http://www.landscaper.net/images/APCOasis.jpg
( It's from "15th Field Artillery Regiment"
http://www.landscaper.net/theguns.htm#Armor).
This Academy's kit is perfect !!!
Hope it helps.

Tran Trung Tin,
The website may be from 15th FA Regt, however, Field Artillery units did not use M113 ACAV vehicles. I believe it is actually a vehicle from 11ACR that was providing perimeter security and operating out of the same Fire Base as 15 FA.

i believe that the 12 denotes the 12th cav, as its a cav designator next to the 12, so more than likely it is a box designator.

go to google and type in m113/images and you will have several visual sites ope to you for looking at the m112 and its units assigned.

Guys, thanks for your support but I'm still niot satisficed
As Francois wrote second option is for sure 11th ACR but I'm afraid vehicle from boxart can also serve in 10th ACR. Unit insigia are very similar so '12' can mean 12th ACR or maybe 12th vehicle in 10th ACR? Academy for sure made mistake with decals because both U.S. Army vehicles has the same markings on front fenders. It's '11ACR' on the left and 'A-12' on the right. Maybe they had two photos showing left side of vehicle B and right fender from A and joined this in one decal set?
Anyway I'll be very happy if you can give me more information. I like to know history of my models - it's my way to discover history of wars.

The box art depicts the 12th CAV. I have an actual photo of this vehicle some where in my files. I am trying to find it now. As soon as I find I will post it here.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
the A could be for A troop, with the 12 meaning vehicle designator.

for instance i was in G troop, 2/11th acr. my track was called 32, which was 3rd platoon, 2 nd track, and this told the plt leader who was what and where when we called in for sit reps.

hope this helps
