GH I think so... I'm not certain about the differences. I'd like to find out about the interior configuration though.

As far as the IDF's M577...I don't know if they differ from U.S. Army ones. On this site you can just make out the interiors of several M577s. M577

Hey Jack, I'm expecting some info on the IDF M577 soon. What I can tell you is they have similar interiors as US versions . For example I've seeen one pic with a table (architecht style) on the left, What I think is DAVID fire control on right front. radios along left side /front above table. IDF M577s are used as well for RPV control and those interiors would be different. Email me direct and I'll see what I can dig up.

I doubt they ever used the one with blazer as depicted By AEF, although I'm eqaully sure such a package was designed for it. since most IDF M577s seem to be used by Artillery units as fire direction tracks The need for blazer is outweighed by the need for the storage space on the out side. Also all the added wieght from the enlarged rear compartment and the blazer plus the standard crew would probably strain the engine quite a bit.

Add weight concerns to your list of reasons not to Add armor to the M577. The concept of the Armored Command Post is the real concern that your positon may come under artillary barage. added armor would not prevent destruction in a direct hit situation nor can you add sufficiant armor to prevent shrapnal penetration of a near miss.
