I posted this in another forum a little while back. I hope this doesn't affend any hard-core Shermaholics.
I thought it would be a change of pace. In my travels through-out the web and armor reference photos, I couldn't help notice the aero-dynamic shape of the M4A1.
So, I thought I would take advantage of it - maybe you guys will like it ?
It came from a Nichimo M4A1 ( saw an earlier post ) This is what I did with mine
Removed most all fine detail and texture on hull - added headlights to cover machine gun port
Metallic primer coat - painted some pieces right on sprues
Spray w/ Boyd's True Blue Pearl
I hope I'm not barred from Armorama after this

Nah, we had a pink T-34 on here a while ago.
Looks kinda like the M4 parked in front of the VFW in Appleton, Wisconsin. The silver drive sprockets and road wheels certainly look familiar. I don't think it had the tail pipes and the frenched headlights, though. :-)

Yeah, - maybe I've been watching too much American Chopper
Thanks guys for your kind comments. It definetly was just for fun.
This model actually had a descent amount of hull texture to it. I sanded so much to remove it - I lost the panel lines on the engine deck.

You could try to pass if off as a Navy Shermie... nah ... maybe a red bubblegum light on top and 'To Protect and Serve' on the hull ... oh well, as long as you have fun with it, Enjoy! #:-)

Normally I would say to do that to a Shermie is sacrilegious. But since it's just the Nichimo kit I kinda like it. Who Knows? I could end up with one of those hot rod Shermies too!!!

Howdy gluesniffer,
At first, I was on the same page as ShermiesRule on this, and leaned towards the 'sacriligious' side of the coin. And then when I noticed that it was the small hatch version of the M4A1 hull, I was thinking heavily about taking my Rune collection out of the closet and calling down the wrath of Odin upon you!
But.......my wife heard all the cursing coming from my study, and decided wisely to throw a bucket of ice water on me, sooooooo, I've calmed down now......
I will instead, side with my compadre's on this, and simply say you didn't go far enough.
You should have gone NASCAR!!!
Tread. :-)

A very cool concept, and the perfect thing to do with an old inaccurate kit. I like how you primed it in the Gold paint. Nice Metallic-blue finish, and I dig the Silver sprockes and roadwheels. Plain-jane decals even look cool
Great idea and excellent work !!
Cheers !!

Thanks for the tolerance in such a brazen act. I thought I felt the clouds rumble.
( I understand - I believe it was only game in town for awhile for that hull )
Hysterical ! Thanks again for all the comments -
Shermies are a serious subject to alot of people. Let's just say it was a tribute
Really, I thought it was perfect for the smooyh cast hull the second choice was one of those Russian upside-down frying pan turrets like a JS-3 or a T-62
Shermiesrule - think about it ?
Jim F - didn't think about going Navy

Very interesting....I like it...I think...I can picture some '57 Chevy fins, some skirts over the road wheels and some more chrome!
Looks like it was a lot of fun!

Funny you should say that. We had a guy in our IPMS club up in Wisconsin do a couple HMMWVs in NASCAR livery for a club contest -- they were pretty awesome. I was thinking about kit-bashing a Monogram NASCAR kit with a Tamiya halftrack -- and call it a "Half-ASCAR" :-)
