Hello all,

Has anyone ever built this model kit in 1/35 scale? If so, does the upper hull fit to the top edge of the lower hull or does it fit down inside the lower hull on an edge that is built up along the upper inside edge of the lower hull? Laying it along the top it does not seem to fit in the front. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just bought another one. As I recall, the top hull fit nicely into the lower hull. I'll look at the plans once I get home. If Sabot is up on the net, he knows those M-24s better than he knows his kids. So, he should be able to pipe in....Ken is also a subject matter expert.

Okay, thanks. The directions aren't really clear. A shortcoming I've found on most revell/italleri models. I appreciate the help.

Amigo-- look at the hull. It has agrove along each wall that the upper portion slips into . The uper portion is definitely inserted in the hull verse laying on top of it.

Be careful of those Italeri tracks I used AM sprockets and idler wheels on mine I went to put the tracks on and it pulled the sproket off the mount Those Italeri tracks have got to be the tightest fitting tracks around

I paid the extra $20 and bought the Armour Track Models Chaffee tracks. They have two types, the WW2 all-metal style and the rubber chevron style. Since I have the older post-war kit (thanks DJ), I got the rubber chevron style tracks.

Armour Tracks came with a resin sprocket and idler too.

The front plate on the lower hull should be front-most on the Chafee hull. When properly assembled, the edge of the lower plate should be a little higher than the upper plate -- it kind of looks like the tank has a bit of an underbite.

I know it looks a bit odd, and everyone is tempted to sand it flush, but that's the way it is on the real vehicle.

I just wanted to thank eveyone for the info and help with the Chaffee. All the tips helped a lot and made the construction pretty easy. Thanks again.
