Hi all
I hope someone can help me out with a few questions that have got me really stumped. First, how would I make a rice paddy? I would like to include a corner of one in the Indochina dio I've been working on. A related question. Does anyone know of a 1/35 scale figure set with a Vietnamies [ spelling Farmer. or a wheelbarrel type wooden cart ? I know about the Viet Cong sets but what I'm looking for is a old man /farmer. The idea is he is going to be smuggling weapons past a French patrol.
Thanks in advance for the help

Verlinden makes some nice Nam kits. They have a Vietnam Civilian/VC set (shown below)
That should be what you're looking for. Go check out my Vietnam Model List at Nam Modelers for more Vietnam era models. I'm still adding stuff to it BTW. Who said there was a shortage of Nam stuff?

OK, as for rice paddies, get some plastic turd, ya know, the fake grass used for matting or lawn bowls. now the way that is made is lots of little clumps of green plastic "leaves" just pluck those out, and put them in drileld holes in your diorama, make rows and wola, instant rice paddie, just poor some resin down and its got water in it too, cheers, hope it helps!

Hi all
Brad, thanks for the idea on the figures. I may change the old man to a women. I like the look of that female figure.
David, I was wondering after your first post about the "turd" comment but I was almost scared to ask The tech for the rice paddy sounds good though. I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks guys you've been a big help.

You can also use modeling clay a wall spackle if you want the paddies to have ripples. All you need to do is get the clay or spackle in the shape you want it paint it a merky color and put a few or more coats of clear varnish on it . As for the wheel barrel cart you should be able to scratchbuild it if you can find a picture of it or just use a little imagination. This way or Lestweforget way on the paddy should have good results in the end.
