I have some spare parts so I decide to build this diorama. It’s an American soldier in a French town who has built his own defence with some tire, tank track, stones, plank and a SS helmet. His weapon arsenal consists of a water cold 30cal machine gun, a bazooka, a M1 Garand rifle with grenade launcher and some hand grenades.

Erik,
I really like it. Small, simple but replete with drama. Good choice and very good job. You might want to spend a little bit more on the paint job. Remember, the painting of the figure conveys a lot of the realism, and with your imagination, you would really become a master. Good job!!
Ciao for now

Thanks

Yes the paint job on the soldier could be better but it was an old figure I had. I was to lazy to improve it.

Nice looking little dio you have there. Somtimes if I get tired of working on large dios I will build a small one. It kind of good to be a to complete one every once in a while. Keep up the good work.

good job sherminator! the composition and story are very cool. i like em a lot. if memory serves, on the bazooka, the shoulderstock was wood. also, the stock on the gun looks too much like paint in my opinion. you can give it a wash of burnt umber and i think it would improve that. other than that i think its a really cool dio. great job.

Ciao Erik,
Don't get me wrong. I think you did a really good job. I actually learned a lot of really good techniques using older figures. They are so dull and featureless that I had to "overdo" the paint job just to make the figure look more lifelike. You could try a wash on the entire figure, and then use the original colors just as highlight. You could even try drybrushing, but I don't really care for the technique on figures. But I really do like the dio.
Ciao for now

Sherminator,

What a great idea! That's an excellent way to use spare parts. I really like the dio. The rubble/clutter that the soldier is sitting on makes it very realistic.
