Hi guys,
Been using Tamiya Light Sand spray paint for a hummer I'm working on, need to get another can today but at $5 a pop I'm wondering if there's another alternative for this color. I've been looking but haven't found any sand colors out there in other spray paints, anyone have any suggestions? If not for this model then at least for next desert project, that Tamiya paint is good but expensive. lol Thanks!

Here's the color you want for modern US armor.

One of the big paint companies (Krylon) is doing a flat camo set (for hunters maybe?). I saw it at Wal-Mart, where I get most of my paints and supplies. Was only $3.99 for a big can - would do maybe 4-5 models. I did not try it but the color looks close to most of the stuff in my units motorpool.

Thanks guys, will check out both of those! The Krylon one looks like good bang for the buck, will have to visit Wally World to see how close it is to Testors in color.

If any of you guys try any of these Krylon paints and they seem to look pretty good could you give us the heads up on them?
This sounds like a good alternative to the airbrush I can't afford, or the hobby spray paints either.
You say they are selling these at Wally world?
Thank you in advance.
Kerry

If you do I would prime first (I usually do anyway). This type of paint might be too "hot" for plastic right out of the can.

Only been able to find two colors at my local Wally's, brown and khaki in the camo paint and they are CHEAP. $2.27 a can for 12oz is a good deal, in ultra flat too. I tried the khaki out on my Humvee net bag for the rear of the vehicle and it looked good last night with a couple of very light coats. I primed it with Krylon primer prior to painting, will see if it hasn't melted when I get home from work today. Thanks for the tip guys!

I've had pretty good luck with most of the "cheap" spraypaints I tend to use Flat whire or Grey as a primer on everything.......
