Hi,
does anybody have news about this project ? After having been partially unveiled at Omsk armement fair (if I'm not wrong), I've seen nothing then on.
Is it still under development or cancelled due to budget cutting (like in so many other countries) ?
Are there other pics than that of the well known mock-up on a proving ground ?

I've heard and seen some pictures of this tank too. However all of the info i can find only relates to its unveiling, no new about it since then.

I think the Black Eagle(Obekt 640) was in a so called competition with the T-95 made by the Uralvagonzavod. The government funded the T-95 in 2000 but it wasn't enough for mass production - I think this means that the T-95 won... The T-95 was found to have some flaws and is being reworked right now, as I've read from various reports. President Vladimir Putin also plans more military funding from the budget of 2005. The T-90 was originally planned to be fielded from 1995 to 2005 - might the best tank in the world be just a year away?

P.S. I read that USAREUR has all the info about the current armor used in Russian tanks - may be the
army wanted a new radical design and that's why they didn't go for the Black Eagle.
