hi Tigeriv . the firefly is a great kit,
i also got mine the other day also,
the detail on this kit is great,
i ordered the EDUARD firefly barrel
Highly detailed aluminum gun barrel
its kit number is EDU-34010
its better then the barrle that comes with the kit,
and i also oreder these after market tracks.
called RHPS they are plastic and indy.
they are work able dont need glue,
hollowpoint told me these are better then the fuil model. and the tracks in the kit are the chevron t-48.
and i got the t-48 tracks from RHPS

Hi Tiger. I never had a set of friuls for a sherman, but usually Friul sets have quite a few extra tracks. When I built my panther, I had about 10 track shoes for extra armor and still had about 10 or 12 left over. So there should be planty.
Yesterday I completed a set of AFV Club sherman tracks and for the normal sherman it says 79 tracks per side and the firefly was 83 per side. I would put money on that you will have at least four extra tracks per side.

As its a monotone vehicle, why not get a tin of spray paint and spray it with that. Its easy to detail paint with a brush afterwards. Before I got my airbrush this is how I did it!

Tamiya´s early M4 sprayed with olive drab spray can

Italeri´s M4A1 sprayed with an airbrush

Hi Guy's,
I just wanted to point out a few things. The Tracks used by the Vc Firefly did vary but the kit tracks are actually T62 steel cheveron not T48. The Rubber cheveron was the least used and I have only seen a few on Ic's but you never know there is always that possibility. That said you can use RHPS T74 British Cheveron. I just added them to my Vc Firefly and they worked great. You can also use T49 tracks from Afv Club and they are rubber band as well and these were used quite frequently as well. The kit tracks with a bit of work are fairly decent. So you have a few options there. Tazz the star in Circle decals were used by all allied armies in Normandy as a quick visual reference I.e Friend or Foe. Just some food for thought
cheers,
Bryan

Good luck with that kit.. the indy tracks do look daunting but they are doable.. I did this kit a year or so ago.. I used the 2nd release of the kit #6121 and it was the first time i did indy links.. put the tank to gether in about 3 days the tracks took quite a bit longer.. anyways here is a pic and a link to other pictures.

firefly pics

I also wrote a feature for armorama about building indy tracks of this type its under the features/ armor section. think around #21 or thereabouts.
