Hey guys, here is the start of my latest dio. Everything is scratch built. I used cork for the cobble stone and the flag stone side walk. The post for the wall are castings of my original, the bricks are from Hansa, I must say these are worth getting!, the lamp post is one of my creations-sculpted with magic sculp, the posters are from my company Scale Creations, the ivy is parsly built up to give the 3D effect and painted.
I did all the cutting and sculpting yesterday and today I put everything together, and painted. Still more work to be done....stay tuned!
As far as figures go Im going to use Dragons U.S. Army Airborne kit. Two will be along the intact part of the wall and one will be looking through the hole in the wall. For a title I was thinking something like "Watch the Holes!" but if you have and sugestions that would be great! Ok here are the pics:

Thanks guys! As far as the grafitti goes, what kind of grafitti was there in Normandy 1944?

If you are doing a liberation scene a V for Victory would look good. You can do a big "V" on the wall through one of the Nazi posters

Great work Adam. Every modeller knows what they like in a model, and this "I like". It will really set the scene for the figures. I like the fact that its all scratched ... and the lampost especially. Nice one. The ivy is my personal favorite!

Fixing the Hansa bricks: Did you glue them? I wonder what they would be like if you used something like milliput and "washed" it into the seems like mortar with plain water? I have never used (or seen) them, but would be interested in how they work. I like the mortar look in old bricks, and was wondering if there was someway of adding the mortar. Thats the only flaw I see in them, eventhough the wall looks damaged, every brick has perfect edging. I was thinking the mortar might give them an older look.
Are they hollow or solid? Maybe they could be roughened up a bit. Just some thoughts I have on the subject. I was actually thinking, maybe the bricks could be made from cork as it has a nice texture.

The bricks are plastic so you just glue them together, I will probable go through and rough some up later. I like the mortor look to but I never thought of milliput....it seems like it would work though....

Can you get the white V to drip some paint like it was painted really thick and sloppy?

Fantastic brickwall. If your'e not already a bricklayer you won't have problems being one. Love the posters and lamps too. Being busy is an understatement. Can't wait to see the finished dio.

Great work, I really like the work you have put into it. I would have to agree with Plasticbattle, I would like to see the mortar in between the bricks, I am working on the same problem. I am using cork and now trying to add mortar in between I will be trying some experiments this weekend. I was thinking of using some thin drywall mud, thinned with a little paint and water so it can be easily worked in between.
