That's awesome. I still laugh when I see the loudspeaker!

Keith, this is looking very good. The figure of Oddball looks very well done. I also like your attention to detail, like the speaker and the two helmets on the head light guards.
Couple of things you might look for on the Sherman. In the movie two things I've seen on the tank are a blue bucket hanging near the front, and a US helmet with the red cross on a white circle of a medic hanging near the rear of the turret. I can't tell from your photos if these are here.
At home I've got a link to a site that has some great photos of both tanks. The last time I checked it it was down but I'll check again tonight to see. If so I'll post the link.

Hello Rodger, I know the site you are talking about. I have used it a great deal in working out the plan for this diorama. It was back up yesterday (http://www.salt6.com/kelly's_heroes.htm). I have a blue "pot" (for lack of a better term, as it appeared to be a large coffee pot or something similar in the pictures) on the front left fender (from the movie and pictures it appears to just be sitting on the fender) that I made from foil tops off of yogurt containers. I also have a helmet (not glued as of yet) hanging on the rear of the turret. So far I have not attempted the red crosses on it as I feel I will screw it up. Any suggestions as to dry transfers or decals that may be available?

Hmmm, now if you can get some sort of sound chip, and find that country song that they played over the loud speaker when they attacked that train station, then you're all set! ha ha :-)

"I've been working on the railroad, all the live long day!!"
I do have a question: How do you think they played that music over the loudspeaker? I don't think they had reel to reel yet so it would have to be a record. No way a record player doesn't skip driving into the railyard and firing cannons

I'll bet there are decals or dry transfers for those, but I'm cheap. I'd never buy something like that just for one decal. I'd cut a small mask, like with a circle cutter template, and paint the white part. Then you may find some kind of red cross sticker at some place like Wal-Mart.

Oddball is a complete anachronism and THAT is what you worry about Alan? It's called, "the suspension of disbelief." :-)

I just want to make sure when KBM builds his interior it is correct... complete with record player or reel to reel

http://www.audiotools.com/r2r.html Shermie- check the above link for a complete answer to your query, but in brief:
"Reel to Reel recorders have a long history, originally invented in Germany in the 1920's, the format used today is a development of the tape format conceived by German companies Telefunken and BASF in 1934. Although most R2R recorders are analogue there exist digital recorders as well, electromechanically the only difference between the digital recorders and the analogue ones lies in the heads, ordinary tape heads are fine sandwiches of magnets but the heads on digital recorders are usually lithographed. The processing electronics are very different between those 2 types obviously."

Yeah Shermie, have a little faith baby! :-) Great job so far on this model. I loved that movie and really need to add it to my DVD collection. I can't wait to see the finished product. Are you going to have the Tiger stuck in the alley with a tree in its way and paint all on it's "rear end"? :-) That has to be one of my favorite scenes.

Thanks for all the positive waves! I should have another update today or tomorrow.
Brad: that is exactly the scene I am doing. I just finished the Tiger and the tree this weekend.
