Cuhail, I see you done a beautiful job on them bikes, and I'm working on one myself, and for such a small thing I got to admit, it is taking me more time then any of the other models I have.
To me I like this, but a lot of others that like to build a model quick, wouldn't, and I noticed you said them are BMW R35's where mine is BMW R75 & sidecar.
By any chance is yours Italeri, cause if it is, I was wondering if they had as many mold lines as this kit has. This one is kit Italeri #315 the one on the left looks like mine.
I sure would like to know how you made the aluminum look like aluminum.

Everybody, Thank You! I am glad you like 'em!
I made one Boo-Boo and labeled them R 35's, this is indeed incorrect as they are, in fact, R 75's. They are the Tamiya kits with the sidecars. I just didn't use the sidecars. I loved doing these bikes and probably will kitbash a few more with a faring and tricked-out more.
For these, I brushpainted the whole of each kit with Testor's enamels using Testor's Aluminum and Steel for the engine, aluminum for all the other "shiny" stuff. I used Testor's Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue for the tanks and fenders and Testor's Dk. Tan and Rubber for the seats, tires and grips.
As a treat, I am posting the "other" shot of these rides. On the left we see 1/35th scale Cuhail, as always wearing his trademark sleeveless shirt. On the right you see 1/35th scale Staypuft, or Phil with the retro long hair (phil has since abandoned this scrappy look.).
Since Phil no longer has long hair and I NEVER wear a hat, I think I will re-do these figs and bring them up to date!
Ridin' out!

Cuhail, I was wondering if you could tell me if Tamiya offers a bunch of figures and weapons with their motorcycles to like Italeri does?
Thank you

Straightedge,
The tamiya models I got came with a rider for the Motorcycle and a gunner for the sidecar.
I think I have them in my spares box. I'll look and if they are there, you can have 'em. But, lemme look.

I thank you very much Cuhail, but I wouldn't want to add any exspence to anybody, to what I really wanted to know was, if they had them, so if someday I would buy a Tamiya kit.
Cause all these other Italeri kits aren't much for extras, and I think they threw in the 3 figures, and all the rifles, and machine guns was to get you to buy the motocycle.
There I was wondering how you got your engine to look the way it did, and all the time you done the same thing I done, except my second coat hadn't dried yet when I had asked you how you done yours, and by the time I seen your answer, my second coat had dried, and then looked the same as yours.
But the first coat it sure didn't look like yours.
Thanks again

Nice looking bikes there! I did the side car version a few years ago in DAK colors.
Something you (and anyone planning to build these)might want to consider. Tamiya did not connect the cylendars withthe exhaust system. There should be a pipe running from the front of each cylendar to the collector. This makes a glaring error on something as exposed as a MC engine.
Adding wiring/cables from the handlebars to the brakes helps a lot, too.
Also, if you're not using the sidecar, the locator holes would be better shaved off and filled.

AJ,
I thought about what you said. Interesting...I think I will throw on some wiring and cap off those sidecar mounts, eventually. I am no rivit counter by any means, so small inconsistancies don't really bother me too much. I DO think the wiring would add some snazz though, I will try it.

Cuhail, at first I thought it was either my computer or the lighting for not seeing the exhaust pipes from the cyclinder heads to the collection tube, cause Italeri has them.
Another thing Italeri has is clutch and front brake handles on the handle bars, even though they put them on backwards, they are there. They made them to look like you squeeze them towards the middle instead of the way all bikes are, squeezing them out to the ends of the handle bars.
Now if you are going in for super detailing you know where the battery is by the kick start, but I don't know where the coil is on a BMW, to run some wires between the two. I'm a Kawasaki man myself, or at least I was, now won't ride none of them, I still got my 2 Kaws, but they have been setting for years.

.
It looks backwards to us, used to the current style of lever placement, but that is the correct placement of the cutch/brake levers! This also shows the exhaust placement and some of the wiring, as well as the front fender supports Tamiya neglected.

Nice Cuhail, Reminds me of two 1:35 Testor's Harleys I built. This scale is tough in cycles, no? Or is it just me?

Hey there Cuhail, I'm talking about a Testors/Italeri kit No.858 Harley-Davidson, in 1:35 scale. My shop owner up in Connecticut told me it was a rare kit. This was about 6 years ago. I purchased it because I wanted to model a Dodge Truck WC-62 6x6 hauling a unique load. Along with the fuel barrels, ammo boxes, and other gear, I put a Harley in the back. The kit depicts the Harley-Davidson Model WLA, put into production during 1939. The kit had two Harleys that were not fitted with sidecars. Two riders were also included. As you probably already know, the history reports that many 1000's of these motorcycles saw service throughout WWII. I used the other bike in a simple diorama I built with my then 6 year old boy. This one is in pieces now. The one in the truck is in storage. I'll see what I can dig up. I do have the instruction sheet.
