Need help. In the book WW2 Softskins and Halftracks by G.N. Georgano there are 2 pics of Quads on pages 57and 63 what are the colors on these quads. I know the pics are black and white but any help would be great. Also what would these colors be in the Tamiya or Polly Scale paint line. Thanks for your help. Bulldog

I'd hazzard a guess that they're both in SCC2 base coat and SCC1a camo browns. I can not help with Tamiya/Polly Scale shades, all I can suggest is to go to this site, MAFVA resourses, and then find equivalent shades on the various paint charts. There's one such conversion chart here, IPMS Stockholm .

While I don't have the book, if the version of Quad you are looking at is the same as the Tamiya Quad ( a type 12 cab) or even the earlier Type 11 cab, then the base colours are likely either BSC 61 Light Stone or Khaki Green G3. The Type 12 cabs went out of production in late 1941 just as the SCC2 Brown colour was being introduced. At that point pretty much all the vehicles in production were allocated for the desert and would have been in the Light Stone. Earlier vehicles that were allocated for the UK were in the Khaki Green base colour.

Now, this was the original colour as it left the factory. What the colour would be on any given day depended upon where the vehicle was serving. That's a much more convoluted story.
