Well, first off, fox, Welcome To Armorama! I think you'll like it here, and you'll find that these lads & lassies will do anything they can to help. I did a quick search, and among the limited results I came up with:
http://legion.wplus.net/guide/army/tr/maz537.shtml
http://sovavto.cjb.net/
On the second, choose make& type@ top of page, then MAZ, Then 537.
Not much but I hope it gets you off to a good start.
You might also try PM'ing Paul Dostenko for info, he's the Russian language site editor and has an inside track on Sov/CIS vehicles.

Here I am guys. Fox, welcome to armorama, the best modeling site in the world!
There aren't much photos of this particular truck and this website has some of the best I could find.
There is however another site with similar pics but unfortunatly I can't find it right now, but if I do - I'll inform you about it. You could also get this book, i'm sure it will have all the stuff you need.
About the load - if I'm not mistaking, the MAZ-537 was produced from 1959 to 1990(!) so any tracked vehicle from that time period would be acceptable. The MAZ-537 had the towing capacity of 65 tons and the MAZ-537A had 75 tons on the highway and 30 tons offroad.
