Outlaw,
There realy isnt anything aavailable as far as the shells and links are concern. But, AEF has the ammo cans for the Bradley. AND....... I used the Warrior shells from Accuarate Armor to simulate shells for the Bradley. You realy couldnt tell the diffrence unless you pulled out a micrometer.

Here is what the Accurate Armor ones look like. There 30mmRADEN shells. They look real close to 25mm Bradley shells.

Thanks EPI,
I am making a OIF Diorama and jus thought the expended casings and links would add a nice touch laying around the upper hull under the 25mm.

Well, you see what the shell casing looks like. The set Up above has some expended shells and you really cant tell the difference. But you know what, I have a small belt of spent 25mm casings and the links at hom. i will take a picture of it so you can see what you can do. The shells would be no problem, its the links. But your right, a Bradley in OIF after a shoot out would have a bunch of shells and links liening on top of the grills. Now the 7.62 coax, that would be a cinch. I would just cut up some brass rod the size of the casing and lie them all over the grill on the right side.

I am going to try to scratch build the casings, if the come out alright i will use them if not I will do something else. If you or anybody else has Bradley questions please let me know, I was in Bradley units as an infantryman almost my whole Army career.

You might try these. They are from Mission Models and are 20mm flak casings. 5mm under size. In 1/35th scale that comes out to about .006 inches. I don't think anyone without digital calipers would be able to tell the difference.

More info at the linkage below.

Shaun

EPI,
I am in the process of scratch building a TOW launcher for the M2A2, as the one in the Tamiya kit is for A0-A1 models with two missile latch release handles. Also the front is different.

I know which one you are talking about. It has only one Armament Control Box whic houses both embilicals in it. Do you have good refernce pictures? Ask Vodnik, I think he scratched built his too. If you need pictures, I have all the parts manuals right here. Just let me know so I can take the sheets home and scan them.

Those are some great pictures of ammo, fellas. I've got an M2A2 in the stash and will be building it in the near future, so thanks for some good ideas. Did I understand correctly from the previous posts, that the spent shell casing actually come out of the M242 and land somewhere on the outside of the vehicle. Does anyone have a picture of this area showing me where the shells eject from? Also, can someone explain the TOW system to me a bit more. Do the missles literally have wires attached to them that stay with the missle when they're fired and spool out? If so, where do the wires come out from? Thanks.

ArmorGuy,
I new I should of brought my camera today to work. I could have taken pictures of what you are asking for. As stated above, I have a Bradley sitting right outside my office door. I guess I will try to answer that for you since I am the TOW/Dragon Repairer here.

Can you see the "dent" on top of the barrel housing in this picture? It has a little hing cover. Thats where the 25mm shells eject from. The 7.62mm Coax ammo is ejected from underneath the turret on the front right side. When you put the turret together, look underneath and you will see a large opening right underneath the right smoke dischager. That is supposed to be there. Thats where the 7.62 comes out from.

As far as the TOW is concerned, yes, there are two wires that are attached to the missile. There are two small spools located on the back end of the missile. The other end of the wires are attacheed to two different points inside the tube. When the missile goes down range, the wire unravels. As a matter of fact, I am repairing one of my missile simulators right know and I have some expended missile tubes. If it can wait till Tuesday, I can take a couple of shots of the inside of the tube where the wire connect. Now the missile takes it commands by electrical current running down these wires. I cant remember what the range is for the current TOW missile, but TOW2 has a range of 3750 meters. Yes, there is 3750 meters of wire wraped around the spools. This wire is very fine and is almost unbreakable.

Like I said a minute ago, if it can wait till Tuesday, i will bring my camera and take some better shots of the ejection port for the 25mm and the underside where the 7.62 casings come out.

Keep the questions coming.

Take a look at the dragon 1/6 weapons. Some of the MGs come with belts that have INDIVIDUAL metal rounds that can be removed from the belts.

Epi,

That is great, great stuff! Thanks for the information and pictures. For somebody who has never been around these kinds of vehicles and doesn't know their inner workings very well, the information that you provide is a real asset. Thanks.

I'm sure I'll have lots more questions!

Keep the questions coming Armorguy.

Vodnik is one of the other guys who is very versed on the Bradley. He did a lot of extensive research on it. So If i dont answer a question right away, dont hesitate to ask him and even ROB(SABOT) too. Rob has some Bradley sitting in his motor pool too. Between us 3 and who ever else knows or has been on a Bradley, I think all your questions will be answered.
