Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the differences between the 75mm KwK 40 L /43 barrel and the 75mm KwK 40 L /48.

I know there was a length diference with the L/48 being about 34cm longer but was that all?
Were the muzzel brakes the same?

I ask this because I have a Pz lV Ausf H which had the L/48 gun but also have an Elephant turned aluminium L/43 barrel and would like to know if the 2 would work together?

Any help appreciated.

The L43 was the first long barreled Panzer IV it was used on the F2's and early G's some of these had a tear drop shaped muzzel brake while others had a muzzel brake that looked a lot like the later barrel(probably just on the G model). during the production of the G they changed over to the L48 and no H's had the earlier gun.. So it all depends on what type if Panzer IV that you want to build. hth

Thanks Rick, I'll do some more research and probably just convert my H model to a G.

Thanks again

in real life, the longer barrel had more hitting power which is why they went to it. Needed something to knock out those T-34's with a first round hit
