Thanks.

Hi!
I'm not expert in german armor but once made Tiger with Atak zimmerit. I can say it's excellent product. Resin is very flexible and easy to use and most important looks great. You can also make some damages just using knife. My set fits very good - only on hull was about 1 mm too short but it's easy to solve.

I have not tried Atak's product yet, though I just finished building a King Tiger using Cavalier Zimmerit and the quality was excellent. With a couple of the pieces, a little surgery was required (on the back of the hull a couple good sized pieces needed to be removed, on the side of the hull a couple mounting brackets needed to be removed...nothing to earth shattering), but the end result is well worth it.

I bought Eduards "Big Ed" kit for that exact model from Squadron.com. It includes regular PE detail, PE Zimmerit, Turned barrel, PE Schurzen, and some wheel masks. I think I paid around $45-50 for it (if you buy parts separately its around $75-80) Good choice if you haven't built the model yet. If you have started, well there is always their Zimmerit for this model @ $12. Not bad IMHO. (keep in mind I'm not a rivet counter, and if it looks good to me, that's all that matters) Hope this helps!

I never tried to do Zimm yet, but I´m planning to do it in a near future and I just bought the Tamiya Zimmerit Coating Applicator (item 35187) and the Tamiya Polyester Putty (item 87027). I´ve read in some modeling books specially in one about the Tiger I, that this is a very simple and effective way to do the Zimm.
