hello lads. I just wanted to share with you the first steps of my mountain side, the rocks are made with woodland rock molds, sorry for the dark pictures I just coated it with the first layer of paint thats why some parts are still a bit glossy and it was dark outside when I took the pics.

tell me what ya think?

this saturday I will be drybrushing adding moss and the water fall. so an update will follow.

seasons greetings Juul (:-) :-)

Looks good from what I can see, Juul- although for a second I thought for a second that your first pic was my 2nd grade teacher
What's the dio? Pont du hoc?
[EDIT]- I assume the Woodland scenics castings had to be joined to eachother- how'd you accomplish that & what did you do to hide the joins?

hiya robert.

about what the dio is gonna be Im not sure I was thinking of a german berg jager patrol beeing ambushed from above by partizans or some english commando's rock climbing school so I havn't got a clue 'w'll see

about how I joined the rocks on the surface I used some sort of wall filler, when you put water on it and have a spatula you can make it nice and flat and then just take an old toothbrush to make it look rocky.

hope that helped I hope I have better pictures this saturday or sunday

Sounds like some excellent ideas! Your cliff reminds me of a documentary I once saw on the British Royal Marine's survival school. It seems as part of their graduation exercise, they have to jump flatfooted, with no safety gear, from a 30m(or so) high cliff across a 1.5m (or so) gap onto a 2mx2m (or so) flat topped splinter of rock. Supposed to be a character building exercise...
Yeah, I think I preferred the US Marines!
Maybe you could do another with that theme...

Nice job so far. The top looks like it will get some dirt too? It looks a bit sloped for a staight rock outcrop at the top edge.
Check this out for inspiration and rock painting and detailing.

hiya scott well the big boulder that is going to be on top isn't finished yet

its drying in its mold. so are the boulders and rocks that will form the bottom of the base, I sprayed it to get an impression on how it looked since this is my first rock experience, and I like the result so far. their will be a streaming waterfall also if I can figure that out hahaha
, that is the main reason that I didnt add the top since I have to make the boulder or top side rocks look like their is water so a lot of work needs to be done and I hope I can update you all this weekend!
