I just applied a couple of coats of Tamiya Plastic primer to my P-51. How long should I let it cure before I spray the Alclad II Lacquer (aluminum lacquer)? Also this primer feels a little grainy should I wet sand, and if so how long until I can do that. Sorry never used this stuff before.
Thanks

What color primer is it?
I think for Alclad, they say that for best results you should prime with flat black paint.
They would like you to used their flat black primer of course....but any flat black will do.
I personally haven't used Tamiya's Primer, so I am not sure if its supposed to be smooth or pebbly. I would think it would be fairly smooth though as any blemish in your primer is going to show through on your top paint coats, especially on a paint as thin as Alcad's

I'm going for a dull aluminum finish, so I'm using the tamiya primer to prevent "crazing" in the plastic, it is gray in color. All the direction are in Japanese so I cant read how long it takes to cure. The Alclad color is called Dull Aluminum.

I used Tamiya Surface Primer, the light gray color allows easy inspection for any surface defects, I can put over it some putty, then sanding to make the surface smoother before painting (sorry I don't make the wet sanding yet), the gray primer is a neutral color to paint over it with dark or light color paints. It takes about 1 hour before doing another painting coat.
