I remember seeing several gun hummers while working with 1-5 Inf while I was stationed there. Normal HMMWV's with a "cage" in the back that mounted .50 cal or MK 19's
I'd like to try to make one of these, but need details.
Is it possible to take a few pics of them for me? I, (and I'm sure a few others) would appreciate it.
Thanks, John

I'm gonna have to re-watch Blackhawk down, I don't remember seeing the type they had in Ft. Lewis. The one I'm referring to is a "pickup" type Hummer with a locally fabricated "cage" in the back that included a ring mount for either a .50 cal or a MK19 40mm grenade launcher, seat, and minimal armor around the gunner.
Guntruck, do you know what I'm talking about?

i'll see what i can find around ft. lewis. might have to take pictures thru chain link fence hope that won't be a problem. there are a couple of hummers down at the other end of the airfield i think i can get to with no problem but they don't have the cage fabrication that your talking about. anything else you need pictures of just let me know and i'll go do some hunting.

have you come across the ambulance version of the hummer yet? i'd like to see how detailed the interior is as far as how they have the back made up.

I hope that they havent turned them in yet.
They were on the far side of the airfield, over by PLDC. 1st BDE area. If you follow the range road that goes behind 1-25 INF you might be able to find them.
Thanks for the reply though, I thought you had forgotten.

I have open day photos of the M997 Ambulance interior, and shall post these shortly if anyone is intersted. Just give me time to balance my delicate juggling act.
Cheers,

John I dont know if this will help you at all but AFV Club releases a Hummer kinda like the one you are talking about. It was like teh cargo version that you are talking about and has the roll cage "CAGE" with a MK19 grenade launcher on top of it. The bad news is that thsi kit was only released in Japan I think and not in the US. I've seen this hummer on eBay a few times so you might want to check there.
Hope this helps,
Mike

I have built the AFV kit. It consists of the Cargo Hummer (Academy) with resin wheels/tires, seats, front bumper w/brush guard, rear bumper, roll cage, weapon platform w/ Mk19 and a metal insert forthe rear floor. Very nice. It was my first experiance with resin and went very well. I got the kit at Missionmodels.com, but don't know if he has more.
