Hi there,

As a beginner, I'm probably asking something that has already been asked before, but I just can't find the right answer.

I'm hand painting my first model using Testors enamel paints and to clean my brushes I use something from Testors as well called "1156 Brush Cleaner". Cleaning my brushes with this really works but I wonder if there's another (better?) way to do this... I've seen people saying you can just use water and soap but would that damage the brushes? And should I really use this "Brush Cleaner"? It's kinda expensive for quantity.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

No soap and water on enamel, You could also use mineral spirits. It would give you a lot more for your money. Bought at any hardware store.

What I personally do is to clean them with mineral spirts an then I wash them with warm water and a mild detergent (not the one for dish washing) and let them dry. Treating them like that I still have a few brushes that are more than 30 years old.
Ciao
