Just finished a new book called Another River, Another Town by John P. Irwin. It is about his experiences as a tank gunner in the Company I, 33rd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armor Division from the end of March 1945 to the end of the war in Europe. He starts of in a M4A3 76mm Sherman and eventually ends up in the Super Pershing. In the book "Death Traps" the author stated that he only saw the Super Pershing in one engagement. Irwin's account has the Super Pershing engaged in at least 3 different battles. I wondering if the discrepency could be due to the author in Death Traps being envolved with armor recovery from Normandy to the end, were as Irwin was there only for a couple a months and the impact might have been fresher. Anyway it is a very enjoyable book, unfortuately no photos but still worth the money.
