Hey all. Does anyone know of the existence of the aforementioned in kit-form or is it a case of AM products etc etc. Being such a common tank coming ashore in W Europe I would have expected to have come across it in my travels...
Any help greatly appreciated Cheers

Well Dragon is re-releasing the M4A1 75mm Early but it's really more of a mid. That's about as close as it gets without going the AM route.
I haven't purchased one myslef but I hear if you go AM that Formations is the way to go for a M4A1 75mm

Hi Honeycut,
Check out this site http://www.usarmymodels.com/MANUFACTURERS/Tamiya/tamiya35122.html .
It says you can swap the Tamiya 75mm turret with the one from Italers's M4A1 kit and get a large hatch late 75mm M4A1.
From my understanding this is a very controversial subject, but it may be of some help to you.
Regards,
Joe

Well the M4A1 late with a 75mm turret was more of a rare bird than common...Most seem to have been made into DD tanks for the landings on D-Day...I'm sure they did exsist but every picture I have seen seems to look like a DD with the fenders removed ..My opinion only ...If you do want to do a late you'll have to add side armor to the sides of the hull but these were part of the cast and not added on after so it has to look like it is part of the mold...Also the turret will need the bulge added to turret side . Good luck and have fun .

Sorry lads was a bit of a muppet. DID mean the late M4A1 with small hatches, not the largey that throws up a bit of a ruckus here
Think the whole moulded applique etc etc of the DD large hatch sounds too convaluted & scrutinized yet aloof (paradoxically!)
DML sounds good though, never having even purchased from them save for some figures...
Thanks again lads
Cheers

Well why didn't you say so....lol :-) Yeah the Dragon kit is not too bad ..The turret could use some work...but really can be made up to look just great ..Can't wait to see if Dragon has corrected some of the little mistakes and improved their tools ...We'll know in September..

I got the Italerie M1a1 with 76mm and the Tamiya M4a3 with the 75 and plan to swap the turrets out. I know this may not be perfect with the rivet counters, but as we say...it's close enough for government work.

Sounds great Honeycut. Praytell, which "smallhatch" Sherman M4A1 kit are you plannning on using? The Fujimi, or?

Treadhead, wouldn't know where to get my hands on a Fujimi kit... Think the Dragon kit coming out sounds like my cuppa tea...
