I just posted the pictures of the box tops of the ancient Monogram 1/32 M4 Hedge Hog and M4A1 Screamin Mimi (Calliope). I hadn't looked at these kits in a very long time. The copyright on the M4 Hedge Hog is 1975, the Screamin Mimi is a reissue with a date of 1997. Hard to believe that 27 years ago these two kits were the top of the line Shermans. In the 1/32-1/35 scale, I believe only the motorized Tamiya M4A3E8 was out at the time, and when the Nichimo kit first came out, it became the best.
The Hedge Hog could be made with the sandbag and wooden armor, or as a plain Jane welded hull M4. The Screamin Mimi was a cast hulled M4A1 and could be built with our without the T-34 rocket launcher. The turret texture puts the Italeri kit to shame. Both kits had the same turret, the old style without a loader's hatch. The gem in the Hedge Hog box is the Shepard Paine diorama insert (not included in the reissued calliope). It shows a diorama and tells how to convert the M4 into an M4A3 by changing the back deck, VVSS boogies and various other fittings. Truly amazing when you realize that this was done almost 30 years ago and with no after-market parts. I wish I had saved all of the diorama inserts. I also included the advertisement for the "complete" line of Monogram Armor series. You may notice some are 1/32 and others 1/35. A few have been reissued on occasion.
