I've nearly finished building the italeri LVT4 !
It represents a late production LVT4.
I know these vehicles were present at IWO JIMA.

I don't know what shape the armor of the 50 cal machine guns had for that operation. Do you have anything ?

Also, I know the vehicles were painted in three tone camo. Do you know what the colors were ?

The only pic I have is in the Allied / Axis book. Do you have others ?

Penpen, there are several possibilities for the LVT(A) -4, First is an overall BLUE paint scheme, this would over time, fade to Light Blue/Gray. All of the AMTANKS on Saipan were in this color. Numbers and TAC. markings were in Dark Blue...

Secondly, the LATE-WAR scheme was Overall Green.

Thirdly (and specifically for Iwo Jima) A three-color camo. schem was employed. Some sources indicate that some vehicles had BLACK added to the scheme.

My sources for this information are the Letterman Productions books on the LVT Series. I recent ly reviewed them for Armorama - the reviews can be seen: HERE!

Anyone serious about modelling the LVT series should consider these books along with the tech. manuals and the plans set....Jim

The LVT(A)4 is equipped with a turret... it is a different version from the LVT4 (the transport vehicle) I'm building. The LVT4 was never painted blue from what I've read...
So I still need to find the 3 colors of the special Iwo Jima scheme... The LVT(A)4 had the same 3 color scheme applied.
