Hi folks

I'm scratching fire extinguishers for my DUKW. The problem I have is I need to know what color they should be. what few pics I've been able to find are all black + white. I was thinking they would be either red or olive green. Thanks guys for any help in advance.

I'm not completely sure, but the photos of existing DUKW's I've seen were painted a very dark, semigloss or satin OD; Not really a flat olive (I have a jar of model master that is this close, but there's paint on the color code ), but more of a rally dark shade of blue/green. Only thing I can think of that may help you is if you can find pictures of the tank static diplays outside the Patton museum at Ft. Knox; The T-28 tank and a few others seem to have the exact same paint color...

Actually, they were unpainted brass. Check the photo below. The upper left is the fire extinguisher mounted on the left side of the bulkhead between the driver's area and the air intake (on the intake side). Apparently, it doesn't work any more. There is a modern fire extinguisher under the driver's seat.

I took mine from the Tamiya Dragon Wagon. They look pretty good. Hope that helps you out.

OK, my bad...

I missed the extinguisher part, I thought you meant the overall hull color, methinks speed reading doth foiled me once again...

Jeez...
