They (the U.S. Forces) seem to be using more commercially available vehicles nowadays.
I think that it's a good thing (as a taxpayer).

Hopefully it will be out soon.

The Army Times (semi-official newspaper of the Army, and they print a paper for each service) did a piece on the JD Gator a month or so ago. It believe it was compared to the old Vietnam era Mechanical Mule. Looks to be a handy vehicle, like an ATV on steroids.

10th Mountain had alot of these in Kosovo. I was chased off by one of their First Sergaents when I tried to get a close look at one. I guess he thought I was trying to "borrow" the darned thing. As far as their use it seems like all they were used for was to zip around the base camp with a few items in the cargo area. I never saw them go off the camp though.

...Yeahhhh, I remember that one too penpen. Only that one looked like a sand bubby on steriods! In fact I believe it had tandem dual rear drive axles.....I think.
Maybe Rob or Shiryon will remember better and have a pic?

Tread.

P.S. I think they list it on that IDF vehicle web site, but I can't remember the address.

Not if you wanted it to be standing after the first shot... or move! Now, a nice dual M-60 mount or auto-feed grenade launcher...

I've used a similar one over the past few years and can say they are great for light work. But when they break down..they really break down. You need to be very aware of the upkeep if you want it to last. Also the things suck up dust like noones business. I wonder if they are modified in any way???
