Ciao everyone,
This is my second marine for the Chosin dio I am working on. I'm glad I like modeling, because I DON'T LIKE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Anyway, this is a DML Marine with a hood made of tin foil and greenstuff. I think it came out pretty good.
Ciao for now
Rob

Looks great. I stink at figures and I'm experimenting with different techniques to do that dark color in the folds of the clothes and lines of the face.

Nice looking figure, great job on the highlights and shadows. The hood and Shoepacks look good too....

To the ammo belt, still looks a little too OD to me (please take this as it is, just my opinion) this is generally the color I work for, though I'm sure there are hundreds of color variations (I find testors Israeli Armor Sand is a pretty good match).

Are you finding plates/photos that are showing the canteen cover and ammo belt in a more OD tone? If so I'd love to know, a teachable moment!

To give credit where it is dune, I found this photo at one of my favorite on-line shops ....

Nathan,
You are absolutely right!! I feel sheepish! I looked at my Osprey Army book, and sure enough you were right about the color. Not even close on my part. Looks like I am going to have to fix that problem. I appreciate the tip.

I hope you don't feel sheepish, that's a great looking figure (as was the BAR guy) and while it's a pain of sorts, I think hitting that belt again will help increase the accuracy!

Can't wait to see the other guys!

HI guys, The Garand ammo belts actually came in 2 colors, There was a darker green like on huskys figure, and there was the lighter tan color also. The green ones are harder to find, as i think less of them were made. Thats a Great looking Fig Husky, really like the highlights

Ciao everyone,
Thanks so much for the compliments. Nathan, you are right. I am going to repaint the belts on both guys to get them the right color. I will have to head to the LHS for the color, but I am going to do it. I think I am going to leave the garand sling as is, though. If they are anything like an M-16 sling (the ones that come out of the can) then they would be that color of green or OD (which I don't want to use because it would not stand out from the OD greatcoat he is wearing.) I am going to redo the Utility belts. Thanks for the tips and assistance. As always, you guys rule!!

Rob:
The slings, as far as I know, were either a brown leather (on the leather sling -- go figure) or an OD web material. You should be fine with the sling the way it is (though it's hard to pick up the color in the photo)!

Ciao Porkchop,
I goofed. I didn't mean the weapon sling (you are absolutely right about the color) I meant the disposable bandolier that holds the Garand rounds. The bandolier is supposed to be green. Sorry about the confusion. Duh!
Ciao for now
Rob
