Heres a cheap base that took me all of 10 minutes to do.its a wood base, then i added lots of pollyfilla then pressed a Tiger on it to make tank tracks in the mud.just need to build a new Tiger to sit on it, when i have painted it mud brown.cheers

Looks good Karl! If I may suggest, try not to have your subject too parallel to the edge of the base. Skewed off at a angle (even slight) adds so much more to your presentation.

You could also sprinkle some rocks on it before you paint it (or after). Breaks up the smoothness of the clay.
