I am working with the Tamiya M4 kit and the marvelous (surprise) Legend aftermarket kit to transform it from the short 75mm barrel to the 76mm M4. The sandbag arrangement goes on both sides of the turret and the front and side of the hull. Now, my question is- what color by MM would provide me a realistic sandbag color. I appreciate that the color needs to be weathered and dry brushed, but what series can you recommend to start the basic colors?
thanks

Hmmm Most sandbags were made of Burlap. Burlap can vary somewhat from a light to a medium brown in color...... As to a specific color..... Not sure......

Anything "sandy" in color would do - desert yellow, dark yellow, buff etc... Can't be very specific since I don't have MM line of paint here.

Thanks. I will take some shots of the developing project and see if we can come to resolution on the color pattern. I do not want to make the bags a uniform color since that detracts from the realism one attempts to produce. Appreciate your comments.

Hi 210cav....

There's a little topic in my post on the rivet review board.

John-- many thanks. I have the Legend (LF 1015) Sherman Accessory kit which contains the T-23 turret and sandbags for the hull sides and front along with sandbags for the turret sides. Very impressive arrangements. I am placing these on the Tamiya M4A3 Sherman (35122). The pieces have gone together well. I discarded the Legend plastic 76mm main gun tube and replaced it with a metal Elephant 76mm gun. Will take picture and post tomorrow.

Steve-- so you paint the entire array of sandbags the same base color?
thanks
