Hello chaps,
Does anyone have a photo or drawing of the tiller bars for an M113 indicating how they are monted to the floor and how the control rods pass through the firewall?
Thanks

Don't have any photos, but they basically come up through a slot in the floorboard. The pivot point and conrtol rods are all under the floorboard. Pretty simple.

I can probably take some photos of the steering controls of an M113A2 for you on Monday. I know I do have the TMs fairly close at hand.

Here is a couple of decent shots from a M577A2. Digging into the back of my brain, I recall that the brace/pivot fits between the two bars and also contains the teeth to lock the bars. The left bar control rod fits within the tube for the right bar and both go directly into the firewall.

I stand corrected, haven't been in the driver's seat of an M113 is some time.

Rob, Would appreciate that. Givven the phots Paul Truh has provided, it is the firewall detil I need now. The Academy kit firewall shows the access panel going all the way to the floor. There must be an allowance for the control rods to pas through the firewall in between the floor and the access panel.

Paul,
There is a picture in Verlinden's Warmachines No2(pg 6) that is shot down through the driver's hatch. The control rods appear to be going through the firewall forward of the panel and slight forward of a line drawn perpendicular to the floor that passes through the tightening screws of the forward edge panel clamps.
I didn't think the rod would pass under the panel since there is also the lip under panel which isn't on the Tamiya or Academy parts.
