Good morning all!
Ok, I'm trying to improve my skills on my construction of my figures (1/35) After my oil washes, and left to thoroughly dry for a couple of days, I seal with Humbrol's Flat Varnish. Now to drybrushing. I do German figures, so there are those "lovely" cammo patterns for their clothing. I'm confused as to what color to drybrush on the cammo parts. I know it's suggested to drybrush with a lighter shade of your base coat, but with all of those different colors (especially on pea patterns) what color(s) would you suggest? Field grey is pretty straight forward, I just drybrush with a lighter shade of that color...done. But cammo....hoo boy, where do I start? ha ha
Thanks Guys!
Kelly

Ciao KellyZak,
Sorry it took so long to answer your post. I have an idea for you. What you can do is try a wash instead of straight drybrushing. Take a wash of whatever color that is lighter than the main color in the camo (the predominant color.) Then thin the paint down and apply it very wet. Apply the paint only to the tops of folds, and if you need to, once you apply it, dap with a napkin to take most away. Some of the paint will remain, but it will be transparent enough to see the camo beneath. I actually used this once, and it worked rather well. I first had a dark wash for the folds, and then did the highlighting. Hope it helps.
Ciao for now
Rob

kellyzak, what i do to drybrush the german camo is use a lighter color of the base camo color, which is usually the yellow/tan color. i usually get good results with that. i have some pics of the results in my gallery. same goes for the pea camo with the base camo coat-the tan color. hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll give it a go on the figs I'm working on at the moment and see how it goes.
