I thought it would be a great "kknowledge share" to discuss potential vendors (often quite small - often unknown!) who produce "really cool stuff". Everyone could contribute additional information, and I can then compile a knowledge encyclopedia that we can epublish and maintain. Please add your input to my base examples below. Try to use the same format, as I will be building a searchible database.
=================================================
Vendor: : Armand Bayardi Productions
Category : Diorama Details
Web: : http://www.milminwh.com/bayardi_p1.htm
Scale : 1:35 and Unspecified
Go Here when searching for:
Crates, Boxes, Tree Stumps, Rocks, Fences, Barrels, and Miscl.
Comment: Produce a lot of unique resin pieces for dioramas. Tree Stumps (non-scale specific) are top notch, and inexpensive ($5 to 7 per bag). Available in a host of sizes and shapes. I find MSS/42B is an excellent size for use with 1:35 Armor and Figures. They also produce a bag of RESIN COFFEE MUGS in 1:32 that work very well with 1:35. Their crates and barrels are also of high quality and good value.

Vendor : GrandtLine
Category : Diorama Details - Injected Plastic
WEB: : http://www.mria.org/companies/Grandt.html
Scale : Varies
Go here when searching for :
Windows, doors, door frames, nuts & bolts
Comment: Although they don't make true 1:35 scale pieces, many of their parts are easily adapted for use in the scale. In particular, their extensive and highly detailed line of 1:48th and 1:24th scale windows and door fit right into the open frames of many Custom Dioramics and Verlinden plaster buildings. I use them extensively as "shattered" pieces in many of the scratchbuilding projects I do. Doors require a little more shaving and sizing, but work well. They also create a line of popular bolts and nuts that are used with armor enthusiasts.

Vendor: FabriTac Glue (Beacon)
Category: Glues / Supplies
Web: http://www.threadart.com/TS/tsft01.asp
Scale : N/A
Go here when searching for: Glues to use with plaster, resin, or plastic
Comment: while not actually a "diorama accessory", people need to know about this great product. With the consistaancy of "sticky peanut butter", it is the ultimate glue for building your diorama plaster pieces. It dries hard as a rock and crystal clear, but allows you up to 10 minutes or so to test fit pieces before you lock them down. Fully cures (depending on temperature) in 2-4 hours. Not recommended for final assembly of resin figures or photo etch pieces, but can be used to bond resin or plastic to plaster very well. Sold in several sizes of bottles, but I find that it works best to buy a larger bottle and then pour it into smaller application plastic bottles to keep if from drying out.

That Plus Model site is great!
To get the link to work...delete the first http:// in the address that pops into the "address" bar above...for some reason the link is doubling up this part of the address which will cause the site not to load!

Sorry bout the post link for PLUS MODEL.... at any rate, While VLS / ModelMecca.com carries their line of accessories, they don't distribute the diorama kits. PlusModel only have two distributors between Canada and the US... and I am the guy for the US. In fact, the Caen'44 diorama posted here on Armorama is a kit from PlusModel. The units are typically larger and heavier than those from Verlinden and Custom Dio, and usually include a good bit of wood, resin, and photo-etch. I only order three times per year, and when I do, I order typically 3-4 pieces of each unit, and sell them via ebay or use them in commercail projects for clients. They are quite heavy, and so I have them sent via Freight boat... takes about 4-6 weeks to arrive and clear customs. After shipping, the WHOLESALE price of the units range fromo $25 - 55 US, and I have seen the guy in Canada asking from $60-100 per unit. If anyone is interested in any particular unit and is willing to pay a 50% deposit, please let me know before August 29th, which is when I will be placing my order for the Sept. - Dec time frame. Send email and questions directly to me at [email protected].

Do you know who that Canadian distributor is, Keith. I've seen Plus Model merchandise available at the Barrel Store, but they have no diorama kits by them. I'd just like to know for comparing prices. The most expensive Plus Model kit at the Barrel Store is the Skoda cabriolet, which is $100, but that's Canadian dollars, not American. I've never built any of their stuff, but those cars sure look nice........

Folgore... the Barrell Store is the Canadian Distributor... he is probably like me.... orders a few times per year. He can order the smaller items from VLS in St. Charles, Mo (Modelmecca.com), and I do as well, but VLS doesn't stock the plaster units... so we have to order directly from Czechoslovakia. To ship via Air Freight would almost quadruple the cost of the items, so we do it by boat freight. I t arrives in a real huge wooden container, and takes a long time to arrive... but I've only had one minor broken part in two years. Plus Model uses DENTAL PLASTER which is about 6-8 times harder than plaster found in Verlinden or Custom Dio units. Don't get me wrong, Verlinden and Custom Dio pieces are really nice, but Plus Model is by far the better quality. Too bad he doesn't have a larger selection... he only offers about 20 diorama pieces.
Again - if interested, email me directly at [email protected]... the larger my order, the lower the overall cost of freight, and the better discount we get.
