Hi guys
this is my slow progression of my dios , since i dont have many time to do it
at this moment i fell stuck, i dont have any idea to bring this dio"alive", i just add grass, i want to put something but i have no idea what is the good one ? can you tell me any idea ?:P
the story its about this OPEL is somewhere in the world war, and they lost they direction, thats why the soldiers on the motorbike point out the way, the figures is conversion from Tamiya and DML,i try to repaint the face
any idea, suggestion are the most welcome

Cheers

nice one Ricky. I would muddy up the bike to match the Maultier and also make a muddy wheeltrack where it has come from.

other then that looking good

Looking great so far ricky! I'll second the inestimable Mr Roo's remarks about matching the vehicles & the track ruts. I could also point out that the mud on your base & the mud on your Mault are distinctly different, but I'm sure you're planning on fixing that...
As to Ideas- the first that came to mind was a shattered signpost with some generic French or Polish city names on it lying in the mud. This would give the "directions" theme some better grounding (excuse the pun). Since these guys aren't on a road, that may not make much sense, though. how about the Mault crewman holding a Mudsplattered Map and shattered compass, and the Motorradfahrer in a distinctly different uniform- a kind of "What am I doing here?, No What are YOU doing here?!?" scenario...
The best thing you can do for yourself at this point Ricky is think out your scenario a little further. Where was the Mault headed? How did they get separated from their unit? Was the motorbike sent out to look for them or is this a chance meeting? Maybe the Mault crew went out to "liberate" some fresh supplies & missed a troop movement- depict this with some casks & crates, maybe a chicken or goat in the truck bed... The possibilities are there, just give it some thought.
i hope some of this prattling helps, and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this great start.
BTW- I understand the tracks & suspension on this kit can be a bit fiddly- any problems you had to solve?

Ola Achtung

I want to say a couple of things here too.
I second the opinion of Cliff to muddy up the bike as well to let it match with the Maultier. Another thing I would add is more figures in/around the maultier. The 20mm Flak usually has a crew of around 3 man but they aren`t visible in your dio. I can imagine they would never be far away from their weapon. Further I have to say I really like the layouting and that you did a very good job on the groundworks. And I love the muddy Maultier

Ciao ACHTUNG,
I like it alot!! The figures look great and natural! I would muddy up the bike more (since it would probably sink deeper than the halftrack) and dirty up the rider. You could always give him goggles and do his face really muddy, but leave his eyes clean where his goggles had been. I really look forward to the completed project. By the way, what about the rest of the crew?
Ciao for now

hey since you have such a muddy vehicle, and it looks fresh maybe make some muddy tracks in the groundwork so it doesnt look like it was airdropped into that position. also maybe add some srubs here and there to add depth but dear god dont use the WS clump foliage for it. find something in your garden or maybe use some herbs you sprinkle on some roots you dig up in your yard. in my next dio i am using moss too and i would like to know how u got that kinda patchy look that you got from a sheet of moss? did u add brown static grass to break it up? pls tell me because i like the effect it creates to the motorcycle riders side of the halftrack. also you might wanna consider adding foliage to the tree because the groundwork looks a little fresh....like spring so the tree wouldnt be bare. also think about adding some goodies in the back of the halftrack where the gun is...to break up the monotonous empty space you got there... because in real life that would be packed with gear and ammo etc. you might can add some figs that are just chillin and hitching a ride on the opel and also i find that u could also have some sprigs of WS field grass in sporadic clumps around the vehicle....maybe the vehicle could be half crushing one and have it at a 45 degree angle to the ground as the tracks are crushing it!!
hope u like the advice
cheers ian

Ciao ACHTUNG,
To do the face would be easy. Just make the goggles out of clear plastic. That will give you the size of them. Then make a paper duplicate. Then, you paint the face normally. Then cover the eyes with the paper copy of the goggles. Then glue the goggles to the head or hat. Then flick the mud onto the figure. Then, remove the paper goggles and BOOM you got the muddied up face and head. I hope it makes sense.

My two cents.

I don't think three more figures will make it too crowded, one on the 1/2 track, two by the tree or vice versa, or one on the 1/2 track, one by the cycle, on by the tree.
The close shot of the figure makes me feel like the head is to big for the body. Could be me or the photo angle.
I would dirty up the roof and inside sides of the bed. Mud gets everywhere.

I do like this one,it's coming along well.

To give the dio a little depth, maybe to could have the driver and the other crewmen arguing over a map which is opened over the fender of the truck (on the other side of the OPEL) from where the calm crew member is getting directions.

Ciao Ricky,
In my opinion, you could use the figure. By 1943, German troops were often wearing anything that they could get their hands on. It was not uncommon for men to be wearing any type of uniform (provided it suited the climate.)

1 idea for a scenario: put one more figure with hand in the air with 2 Jericans, the motorcycle is giving order to cary on driving having an argument with the soldier on the truck , Thema of the dio '' out of gas ". because it seams that the truck drove backward. it is something you might do if you have to get out of a convoy.
Just an idea
