When carried on purpose-built portee's, the 2-pounders had small caster wheels welded onto the shorter two legs so they could be winched/wheeled onto the portee, the main wheels of the 2-pdr being taken off already.
I know this, and have one general reference, but sure could use a picture or two specifically of the caster wheel setup to ensure I get it right.

the attached photo from the AWM data base shows a 12 cab CMP portee. Note the casters are mounted on rails attached to the truck and not on the gun itself.

It is possible the casters came with the truck & were just latched onto the trails when it came time to load up (& put back on the truck when 2-pdr off-loaded rather than hinder emplacement which would happen if welded on).
That makes much more sense than my interpretation of my other source and I will proceed that way.
