Have anyone got any recommendations for either photo-etch or resin zimmermitt for Tamiyas Tiger mid production (35202)?

I THINK CAVALIER MAKES ZIMMERIT.
FOR THE MID TIGER THATS RESIN,
IT LOOKS GOOD

But the one from Cavalier is for the late version, can it be used fo "mid production" as well?

Yes, Tamiya Polyester Putty and Tamiya Zimm Tool.
It´s simple and if you don´t like the result it´s easy to remove and try again.

Don't think I have the nerves and the patience to try my own zimmermitt...

The main visible differences between the middle and late production tigers are in the running gear and a few turret top details. Otherwise, the two tanks are externally similar in shapes and dimensions. Zim for a late should also fit a mid without too much difficulty.

I just used Cavalier zimmerit for my Henscel Tiger 2. I bought a generic set of zimerit real cheap and will cut out what I need for my Tiger 2 Porsche. By all means get this stuff. The Tiger one version will work for both mid and late production versions and you can make minor adjustments quite easily to it.

ThomasB,
take the plunge and try the putty route. I had reservations too at first but even the first one turned out OK. I used Tamiya putty the first time around but for the second I used Squadron green which seemed to stay workable for a longer time. The Tamiya zimmerit tool works great!
