I dunno if I should post here or the sci-fi forum but can anyone give me good painting ideas for this Gundam kit?
(Kit suggested color)
The setting would be in space. I don't want to use pure black or such. Any other ideas? The kit color doesn't look quite nice for a deep space unit.

Hey Ralph, How about this...
A basecoat of chrome silver, wth gold "circuitry" tracings all about the surface,
Several coats of a 'clear' dark blue/ black lacquer (I think Tamiya or MM makes this for RC cars, wingtip lights...)
Between each lacquer coat, lightly flick the suface with pure Titanium dioxide white from an old toothbrush.
Seal w/one coat clear blue gloss, then mask off any "battle damage" in an irregular blocky pattern. stipple these areas a green/grey area, to simulate a T.V. screen on a dead channel (static)
If done properly (& I DOUBT I could do it properly, but I'm really just an Idea man ) This could look like an "Adaptive" coating, one that would mimic the changing starfield around it. The 'static' ares would represent damaged visual cicuitry.
Does this make ANY sense at all?

Sounds pretty tricky but you got a point. Let me try that on a scrap piece first. Thanks for the help!
