Hi everyone,

I built this OOB. Except for the front fenders and rubber tracks, all the parts fit well. I painted it with Gunze "Sandy Brown" and weathered it with a burnt umber oil wash, drybrushed with lightened base colour and pastels. I hope you like the pics and commenst are welcome.

Nice work Wanze!

Like the color, and especially the way the decals look like they are actually painted on!
Maybe only one small suggestion I can think of: painting the grills over the engine compartment with a black wash, and then a soft drybrush of sandy brown again, so it would look like the grills have actual tiny holes in it.

Hi Nfafan and Warvos,

Thanks for the kind and flattering comments! I might just add more wash on the engine grills. I guess it doesn't show through in the photos.

Hi Q,

Thanks for the flattering comments. I used Gunze sangyo "Sandy Brown" for the base colour.

Cheers,
Wanze

There are alot of people going for the 1/72 scale, I might have to order one now for sure. I like the wash it wasn't over done. and the paint job is outstanding.

Are you going to put it in a dio.

Great gob.

Happy Modeling

Hi James GA,

Nothing really special. I used ball point pens. First, I drew a rectangular shape on the periscopes with a blue pen and then a red one. I keep adding the red till it's the right shade I want. Then, I seal it with tamiya clear gloss for protection against my enamel wash.

This technique really works for 1/72 scale. I have'nt tried it with 1/35th.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the kind comments. I love building in this scale. I used to be a 1/35th builder but I converted to 1/72 when I ran out of display space for my kits. Plus, they are much cheaper than 1/35th.

I don't plan to put the chally 2 in a dio. I just don't have the time to build them anymore. Maybe, I'll put it in a simple plaster base.

Cheers,
Wanze
