Really neat camouflage scheme!

It might be the lighting, but the tyres look a bit new and shiny... it might be worth trying a matt coat or some pastel dust to take the shine off.

So, you've finished be I've even had a chance to start... you've still got time for another entry! How about it?

the tyres do look a little shiny...but I think its the angle of the light, it was low as it was late afternoon when I clicked it. I'll give it a look. Morning light seems better after doing the Bv 155 at that time of day.

And yes....I probably will do another...I've already started a Planet 1/72nd (of course...lol) Fw TL Entwurf 3 that fits the bill...it'll be an almost all metal scheme (there's a first time for everything)...camo on wing tops and a little splodgy on the upper fuselage or I'll try the mastic approach.

Hi again



I've had a bit of a think....if this is a naval plane that would normally be on a carrier would the tyres get that dusty?
In time the salt air would degrade the finish I suppose, but the rubber might still have a slight sheen if the aircraft was not that old?:|

The pic shows it on land but this was a trial for both the aircraft and the dio base.

Seriously, I've taken a look at colour shots of carrier-based Corsairs and their tyres look pretty well worn (obviously not muddy).

you are probably right Rowan.
I've looked again at the top pic and if you look at the light on the fuselage, I think its the light thats adding a shiny effect to the tyres.
I can add another dull coat to them...wouldn't do any harm.
I too looked at some carrier pics and all the planes' tyres look pretty matt, except one which looks similar to the top pic here...maybe newer tyres on that kite...lol.

Due to the results of the Metalcote test in Painting and Airbrushing, I will definitely give an all-metal scheme a go on the Fw TL Entwurf 3 second PX entry.

Doing the camo is my favourite part.
But I've still a way to go with weathering and detail work.
Practice, practice, practice.




It's very fine invisible nylon thread...sewing stuff.
I've taken to using small sewing needles for the anchor points. I pin-vice drilled little holes and superglued the cut down needles into them. Then with a great deal of patience threaded the nylon thread through the protruding eye, knotted and superglued it into place. When dry trimmed off any excess thread.
