A few days ago I sprayed a motorcycle kit with gloss coat (from a can, no fancy Future mixture or anything) before decaling.

My problem is the vinyl tires are still wet and sticky!

The other vinyl do-dads, seats, foot pedals, etc. are fine and dry. They came off a tree and the tires were separate. I figured (my first mistake) that the parts on the tree and the tires were all made of the same material, and the tires were just removed at the factory for some reason.

So now what should I do?

My thoughts are:

1. The dull-coat will take care of the problem. I'll try spraying that on part of a tire and see what happens.

2. The above will ruin the tire and I'll be pissed. And no, I have no like material to test the theory out on.

3. I can clean the sticky part with alcohol or some other noxious chemical and see what happens.

4. See # 2 in regards to #3.

5. One of you knowing folks will have the answer to my dilemma and will kindly reply.

Has anyone been in this predicament before?

Thanks,

Keith

Have you tried using a hairdryer to see if you can force the clear coat on tires to dry? Just a thought.

Thanks Marty. I hadn't thought of that.

I ended up experimenting with #1. Dull coat did the trick without melting the tires into puddles of plastic. It did erase my 'dust' weathering though. But that is easy enough to fix.

Thanks Again!
