Anyone have any detail shots of this gun (Ken?)? The Warriors conversion at my local hobby shop went down in price so I finally grabbed it.

I didn't see the old Italeri M101 howitzer for sale there but the Revell of Germany 105mm Feldhaubitze (L) was available so I bought that instead. BTW it is the exact same kit except the figures were deleted and Bundeswehr fittings and a new barrel end w/muzzle brake was added to the sprue where the figures were.

I'm not sure if the M5 is similar to the M6. The photo etched gun shield has some rather vague placement of inside supports. I was hoping to find some good shots of the inside of the gun shield to see where they go.

Hi Rob. I have some pics though it may be a bit before I post them, been a rough week at home.

Anyway, the M6 and M5 3" AT Guns are nearly identical, save for the their shields. The M6 conversion is a nice kit. You will certainly gain help by looking at the M5 for that kit.

I have some of a preserved gun with correct sights and so forth.

BTW, there was only one M5 3-inch gun. It was originally mounted on the M1 carriage which had a shield similar to a 105mm howitzer. Later guns were mounted on the M6 carriage with the sloped shields. This was all before the unitizing designations (like M101 howitzer) came along.

Rob: Did the store have any more kits?

Thanks Ken. Tom Owen just sent me a couple dozen photos of an M6. Great shots of the areas I needed where the support rods hold the gun shield on.

I was glad I was able to get the conversion once the price dropped. Had to take a chance with the Revell kit though. I knew it was basically the M101, but wasn't sure how much was reworked.

Of the 3" conversion? No, I got the only one. This store is well stocked and many of the New Englanders who visit this site can attest that people drive for hours to get there. Luckily for me it is aobut 20-25 miles away.

Here is a link:

M5 3" AT Gun

If you need any other shots of this one, just say the word. It is located about 8 blocks from me.

The gun Don had in in his photos has carriage S/N 1303 if I read it correctly. Note that the "M1" has been altered on the carriage data plate to remove the 1. Close examination should show a 6 stamped in it's place. Only 1000 M1 carriages were made, so this is probably a case of reusing an existing data plate rather than a reworked carriage.

Note that it has the plunger style handbrakes rather than the squeeze grip type which are in the kit, IIRC.
