Hi Guys,
Its me again, I'm posting pics of my dio (first scratchbuilt, comment series) which is almost finished. Please note that the figs although painted are still glossy (oil -- needs to dull it more) and they are not yet permanent in terms of placement. I will add a few more miscellaneous things such as newspaper, playing cards, leaflets and probably a poster (already printed but not yet cut)...Uh oh...I forgot to paint the tank ammo...
Sorry I was not able to take good pics coz it was almost 1AM in the morning during the time I finished painting and taking photos....
Comments and suggestions are very much welcome
Thanks

One thing I may see (hard to tell inthe overhead shot). The debris on the tank mantlet may be covering the gunners sights? That would lead to a very unhappy gunner.
This is really coming along very well.

Whooa nice scrap build, everything is coming along nicely,. The tank is awsome.
The pictures are great it shows a alot of detail, you got all of the main points in whole thing , close-ups, all major views to show everything is there.
I like the theme a lot . The house is impressive how long did it take you. The biggest thing I can not get through is the thicknes of the walls. I just don't understand how to figure it out. But yours looks great.
I can not wait to see the figures done that helps build a flowing theme of the dio. It looks interesting already .
That extra detail ; like the 50 gallon drums got rust on them " NICE "
Happy Modeling

Scott: I thought of that issue while placing the debris/cammo on the mantlet....I made sure that he is a happy gunner
Tom: It will probably take a week that is if I worked on the dio on a daily basis. Regarding the wall thickness, that issue cropped up before.
According to experienced builders the avg. stonewall thickness is between 40cm to 60cm (extreme case 1meter). The styrofoam I used for the wall is 0.5in or 1.27 cm. If I will scale the avg. wall thickness by 1/35 then it'll be between 1.14cm - 1.71cm. The styro thickness is 1.27cm w/c still within the range (Just lucky that I accidentaly hit upon the nearest scale thickness)
Thanks for the comments

Arvin, Its coming along great! I think you did a great job on the grass layout, everything works together fluidly. Bravo on the job so far I cant wait to see your little extra detail items in place. Those are the things I really like. Cheers Kevin

well, i see that this one is going on a better ways :-)
i see u have taken my advice on few more oil/gas drums :-) nice detailing on those, i also like your positioning.
one thing though i must agree with meisen about one thing, yellow camo uniforms on the figs? would like to know some history on those too
with few more details i think you got it finished!
cheers
Mirko

Hmmm...I used the tamiya xf-60 (dark yellow) as the uniform color except for one (pic of FJR at the back of the tank) I used desert yellow. Does it look too yellow...I read somewhere (forgot where) that the FJR tropical tunic varies from pale sandy color to tan. Do you think I should replace the color, just shade it darker or retain it? Any suggestions regarding the best tamiya color to use....
Thanks for pointing it out

A happy gunner is a good gunner
As far as color goes, there are a lot of variations depending on weather, wear and tear etc. The photos look a bit dark and may be a bit deceiving so you need to make the final call.

You are actually right Scott. When I compared the pics I posted against the actual figure the colors differ.
They are actually right, the colors are a bit on the yellow side and I know why...before posting the pics I adjusted the contrast (the original pics where darker) on most of the pics w/c probably affected the color.
The actual color is a bit darker due to the wash I applied w/c in my opinion is near the light tan color. I'll probably stick to the current paint job.
THanks

Aha! I knew it was for the Nationals! :-) Great build! Although, the blue fence on the top of the Jagdtiger doesn't look right to me.

Shonen: It was originally wood color, but when I looked at the dio for a long time I find the colors monotonous that is why I used blue (it was supposed to be country blue -- what does that look like?). Its not actually for the nationals....its supposed to be decor for my office w/c currently looks like the dio (full of rubbles... :-) :-) :-)
Thanks
