Was wondering how readily available a 1/35 scale Maus is? What manufacturer makes one?

Look at e-Bay, there is usually one available. Watch for the shipping/handling charges. It might be cheaper to just order it from a dealer.

Cool, thanks. Has anyone here built this kit? Is Dragon any good? I'm only really familiar with Tamiya armor kits.

dragon has some pretty good kits, the only thing about dragon armor i dont fancy is the seperate track links, but once you get a good technique down, its fine. but YES dragon has a maus kit, my LHS has one for sale

That's the next question, where is the best place to buy it online? Price is my driving factor. I've ordered from Hobby Link Japan in the past and they are at times hard to beat price-wise even after shipping (I feel I usally save a few bucks at least), but I just took a look over there and not only do they not have the Maus, their Dragon kits are a little pricier than I thought they would be. So, where do you all find is the best place to buy kits from online when price is an over-ridding factor?

Dragon German armor kits are very good. Latest ones are better than earlier ones. The Maus is a decent kit.

Cornerstone Models did an engine and detail set in resin (CM 013). I believe Verlinden now owns the molds. Jordi Rubio and CMK both make 128mm barrels for the Maus (same as the Hunting Tiger).

One thing to do when you assemble the sprockets. You should have some of the links on hand to help true up the sprockets.

Two more places to look:

http://www.greatmodels.com

http://www.rollmodels.com

They tend to compete for the best prices inthe USA.

Squadron is also VERY good, but they tend to give less of a discount. Squadron is if you need it NOW, GMW and ROll are if you have the time to wait a week longer or so to save teh extra $$$.

VLS lists them as in stock (rerelease) if you spend a good chunk of change a year, their membership is a good deal. 28%off, free catalogs, updates and free shipping, plus a 40%off sale at the holidays.
I don't work there but am a very satisfied member.

I think it is a Shanghi Dragon so it will probably be a good price.
